Wayne State University Physician Group’s Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center offers a multidisciplinary approach for the treatment and prevention of kidney stones.

The center is staffed by highly experienced and fellowship-trained UPG urology and nephrology experts who specialize in the care of patients with renal stones.

 

HELP PREVENT RECURRING STONES

The estimated risk for developing a kidney stone is currently six percent for females and 12 percent for males in the United States. If stones are untreated after an initial episode, the recurrence rate increases each year.

MEET OUR KIDNEY STONE SPECIALISTS:

Jeffrey Triest, M.D.

Dr.  Jeffrey Triest is trained in urologic oncology and has specialty expertise in minimally invasive treatment of urologic cancers of the prostate, bladder and kidney. He is recognized nationally and internationally as an expert in laparoscopic and robotic surgery in the treatment of urological malignancies and endoscopic treatment of kidney stones. He received his medical education from Wayne State University, where he also completed a general surgery residency, a urology residency and urologic oncology fellowship training. Dr. Triest’s clinical interests include general urology, minimally invasive treatment of urologic cancers of the prostate, urinary bladder and kidneys, laparoscopic and robotic surgery in the treatment of urological malignancies and endoscopic treatment of kidney stones. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Urology, a member of the American Urological Association, a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, a member of the Aesculapian Society at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a past president of the Michigan Urological Society. He has been honored by HOUR Detroit’s Top Docs and America’s Best Doctors.™ He has also received the Wayne State University Service Award and Oakwood Hospital’s Local Hero Award.

Noreen Rossi, M.D.

Dr. Noreen Rossi is a Wayne State University Physician Group internal medicine physician specializing in nephrology. She has training in mineral and electrolyte disorders as well as hypertension. She received her medical education from Yale University School of Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University Hospitals. Both her clinical and research fellowships were completed at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, specializing in nephrology. Dr. Rossi’s clinical interests include acute and chronic kidney disease, mineral and electrolyte disorders, the evaluation of metabolic disorders of kidney stones as well as hypertension. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, with certification in nephrology. She is a nationally funded investigator and reviewer of grants for the US Department of Veterans Affairs as well as the National Institutes of Health, a member of the American Society of Nephrology, the American Physiological Association, and the past chair and current member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. Dr. Rossi has been honored by HOUR Detroit’s Top Docs. She has also received the Wayne State University School of Medicine teaching award, the WSUSOM research award, the President’s Teaching Award, and was the first recipient of the WSUSOM Faculty-Mentoring Award.
