About Wayne Health

A full spectrum of care from birth to end-of-life

Wayne Health, formerly the Wayne State University Physician Group, is a non-profit, multi-specialty academic group practice with over 400 dedicated physicians and advanced practice providers in 50 medical specialties offering a full spectrum of care, from birth to end-of-life, for individuals and families throughout southeastern Michigan. Wayne Health multi-specialty clinics are conveniently located in Detroit, Dearborn, Southfield and Troy, with single-specialty clinics in Livonia (Psychiatry), Monroe (Dermatology), and Taylor (Ophthalmology). Wayne Health is a proud partner in Detroit’s resurgence with our corporate headquarters at 400 Mack Ave. in the heart of Midtown Detroit.

Wayne Health patients receive care from primary and specialty-care physicians committed to groundbreaking biomedical research and educating the next generation of physicians and advanced practice providers.

Wayne Health has created an innovative platform for population health accountability that brings together clinical care, academics and community partnerships. The power of our synergistic approach has been demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic through Wayne Health’s partnership with WSU Health Sciences and ACCESS to test thousands of metro Detroit’s most vulnerable citizens, health care workers, corrections officers and first responders through COVID-19 screening events. This partnership evolved into the first mobile COVID-19 testing service across the region and state in partnership with Ford Motor Company.

Redefining integrated care

Wayne Health physicians and providers have a longstanding, mission-based commitment to urban health and social welfare that is being enhanced through our Center for Population Health Accountability (CPHA) headquartered at 400 Mack Ave. in Detroit. The CPHA is founded on a bold strategic vision to provide integrated “whole-person” physical and behavioral health services, including partnerships to address the social determinants of health (poverty, housing, transportation, food insecurity, etc.) that affect a person’s health and well-being.

Through a network of community health partnerships, the CPHA emphasizes early intervention and preventive care, both in conventional health care settings and non-traditional community locations, such as neighborhood pharmacies, barber and beauty shops, schools, outreach events, mobile units and telehealth.

Complex care support

Wayne Health physicians and providers specialize in the care of patients with the most complex chronic health conditions, especially those from vulnerable populations, who face disparities related to a lack of access to integrated health resources and greater exposure to risk due to their financial circumstances, place of residence, age or other personal characteristics.

Cutting-edge research

Wayne Health physicians conduct groundbreaking research that advances medicine and medical education at Wayne State University, giving patients access to the latest, most advanced medical treatments.

Academic leaders

Many of our physicians are Wayne State University School of Medicine faculty members, training the next generation of physicians as instructors for more than 1,200 medical students and 900 residents each year This teaching role allows Wayne Health physicians to share their vast medical knowledge and experience with resident physicians and medical students, while inspiring them to remain at the forefront of their medical specialty.

Partnering with top health systems

Under an agreement with the Detroit Medical Center, Wayne Health physicians provide clinical care for adult patients in select specialties and fill select medical leadership roles for DMC hospitals and affiliated outpatient facilities. Wayne Health also has affiliation agreements with Ascension St. John-Providence, McLaren/Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, Beaumont Health, Henry Ford Health System and St. Joseph Mercy Livonia.
