Wayne State University Physician Group offers the latest technology and expertise for women experiencing high-risk and complicated pregnancies. Our doctors provide expert evaluation and highly specialized care from pre-conceptional and prenatal consultation to a host of technologically-advanced techniques, including:

  • Consultations for pregnancies with complications or at increased risk of adverse outcomes, including:
    • Hypertension, obesity, thyroid disease, diabetes, autoimmune disease, multiple gestations, mid-trimester short cervix, prior preterm birth, recurrent pregnancy loss, history of severe or preterm pre-eclampsia and blood group sensitization
  • Antepartum fetal well-being assessment, including nonstress testing, amniotic fluid volume and biophysical profile
  • Color flow and other Doppler assessments of the fetus
  • Fetal echocardiography
  • Chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis and umbilical cord blood sampling
  • Obstetrical ultrasonography, including 3D and 4D
  • Genetic and preconception counseling
  • Prenatal interventions (e.g. umbilical cord blood transfusion and treatment of fetal arrhythmias)
  • Multidisciplinary management of pregnancies with fetal anomalies
  • Gynecologic ultrasound (Southfield and Troy locations)

Transfer of patients: If transfer of care is necessary due to serious maternal medical conditions or fetal anomalies diagnosed by imaging, please call our dedicated toll-free number at 844-MFM-MFM3 (844-636-6363). For serious maternal medical conditions, our specialists in critical care obstetrics provide continuing prenatal care and delivery at Hutzel Women’s Hospital, Maternal Special Care Unit. Pregnant women with known fetal anomalies are cared for by maternal-fetal medicine specialists while neonatal care is provided by neonatology and pediatric specialists at Hutzel Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
