Brachytherapy, cryoablation and other special urologic surgical services 

The Urology Department at Wayne State University Physician Group provides special surgical services for urology conditions to Metropolitan Detroit area patients.

The special surgical services we perform include:

  • Vasectomy
  • Robotic surgery of the prostate, bladder, kidney and adrenal
  • Interstim Therapy to reduce symptoms of an overactive bladder
  • Cryoablation of prostate cancer and renal tumors
  • Focal cryoablation of the prostate
  • Radioactive seed implantation to the prostate (brachytherapy)
  • Laparoscopic radical nephrectomy and nephroureterectomy
  • Endoscopic treatment of kidney stones
  • Minimally invasive therapy of urinary incontinence with transurethral injection of collagen
  • Extracorporeal Shock-Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL)
  • Surgical treatments include various bladder neck suspension, "sling" operations, urethral reconstruction, urethroplasty, bladder augmentations, conduit urinary diversion, continent urinary diversions, and continent catheterizable stomas
  • Urologic reconstructive surgery
  • Shockwave destruction of kidney stones
  • Dissolving kidney stones with prepared chemical solutions
  • Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP)
