Wayne State University Physician Group Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation - Oakwood Division

The mission of the WSUPG Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation - Oakwood Division is to advance the field of musculoskeletal and rehabilitation medicine through the education of medical students, residents, other healthcare professionals, and the public in general; a process which utilizes basic science and clinical research, as well as excellent patient care, while improving the quality of life for individuals with physical disabilities. Our high quality faculty and staff utilize state-of-the-art facilities to provide the finest in research, teaching, and patient care.

We provide excellent therapy services to individuals with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions resulting from sports or work injuries, motor vehicle accidents as well as conditions that develop without prior injury, such as arthritis. Services may be provided prior to and following orthopedic surgeries. 

We take pride in the fact that there are physical therapists in our system with advanced training and certification to treat the spine and extremities and that all patients receive one-on-one individualized care.

Neurological Physical Therapy
We provide excellent therapy services to individuals experiencing neurological conditions including:

The therapy services provided are individualized to each patient’s needs and may include:

The therapy services can be provided while the patient is in the hospital, a rehabilitation unit, at the patient’s home, or at one of our outpatient clinics.  All of the activities performed will assist the patient in maximizing his/her independence in daily life, with the ultimate goal of returning the individual to his/her previous level of function.
